History
BSIP was incorporated as a company registered in England in 2002 and took over the assets, liabilities and business of the London Branch of Bank Sepah, Iran. The branch had been operating in the City of London since 1972 and as well as the branch’s business BSIP also assumed its highly experienced staff.

The bank is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bank Sepah, Iran which is the oldest of the Iranian banks having been established in 1925. Bank Sepah has a large network of branches in Iran as well as offices in Paris, Frankfurt and Rome. BSIP not only enjoys the support of its parent but also the support of the Central Bank of Iran.

BSIP is now truly international in character with relationships in over 45 countries worldwide.

The bank is governed by a board of both executive and non-executive directors who are responsible for its strategic direction and risk management. Since its incorporation BSIP has concentrated both on expanding its core trade finance operations for Iranian exports and imports and on diversifying its portfolio into other regions and products. There is a strong culture of risk control within the bank and its risk appetite is conservative in nature with a department dedicated to the monitoring and control of credit risk, market risk and operational risk. A Credit Committee, an Asset and Liability Committee and an Executive Management Committee each have responsibility for monitoring their respective risks and ensuring that the board is at all times aware of the risk profile of BSIP.
